Who Is This Husky Tour & Snowshoe Trek For?
This combination with husky dogs and snowshoes is designed for active and sporty travellers who want more than a typical Lapland holiday. No previous husky or winter trekking experience is required, but participants should be comfortable spending full days outdoors in winter conditions. Good physical fitness level is key for everything.
The expedition is suitable for beginners with a good basic fitness level and an adventurous mindset. You do not need to be an athlete, but you should be prepared for physical activity, changing weather conditions and travelling in remote winter environments.
Arctic Wilderness & Husky Expedition itinerary:
Day 1 – Arrival in Lapland
Arrival by flight or train to Kittilä airport, where we can help you to organise a transfer to Ylläs. After settling into the accommodation, we will go through the expedition plan together, check all personal equipment and prepare for the upcoming adventure.
In the evening, we will enjoy a welcome dinner together and get to know the group before the expedition begins.

Day 2 – Snowshoe Expedition Begins
After breakfast, we transfer to Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park where our snowshoe expedition begins.
We travel through the Arctic wilderness on snowshoes while pulling traditional expedition pulkas. The route takes us deeper into the remote fell area far away from civilisation.
By evening, we arrive at a remote wilderness hut that will serve as our basecamp for the next two nights.

Day 3 – Day Trip into the Arctic Fell Wilderness
After breakfast, we leave the pulkas behind and head into the open fell landscape for a day hike through the Arctic wilderness.
During the day, we explore remote winter terrain, enjoy the silence of the national park and stop for an expedition lunch outdoors.
In the afternoon, we return to the wilderness hut where there is an opportunity to enjoy a traditional sauna.

Day 4 – Return from the Wilderness & Transfer to Harriniva
Today we snowshoe back through the national park to our starting point.
After the trek, transportation takes us to Muonio and Harriniva, where the next stage of the expedition begins. In the evening, we enjoy a good dinner and relax in comfortable hotel-level accommodation before meeting the huskies.

Day 5 – Husky Expedition Begins
After breakfast, we meet the dogs and begin our husky expedition. Each participant drives their own husky sled team after receiving driving instructions from the guides.
We travel through forests, frozen lakes and remote wilderness trails before arriving at a remote wilderness cabin after several hours of sledding.
After taking care of the dogs, we prepare dinner together and spend the evening surrounded by the Arctic wilderness.

Day 6 – Husky Safari Back to Harriniva
After breakfast, we continue the husky journey back toward Harriniva.
Driving your own sled team through the Arctic wilderness is a unique and unforgettable experience, offering a completely different perspective on winter travel in Lapland.
After arriving back at Harriniva, transportation takes us back to our original accommodation. In the evening, we enjoy a final dinner together and celebrate the expedition.

Day 7 – Departure Day
After breakfast, it is time to begin the journey home. Transportation to Kittilä airport or railway station is organised according to the group schedule.
