How demanding is the ski hiking?
This all-inclusive Arctic hut-to-hut ski tour in Lapland to Mount Halti is physically demanding, no question about it. We don’t recommend this ski tour as your first winter ski holiday. You can also check out our easier ski tour in this remote wilderness. Daily distances are over 15 km. However, you don’t need previous skiing experience. Ski trekking is slow as everyone is pulling their own sleds, or pulkas as we call them. You will learn to ski with our fell skis in a couple of hours. Fells skis are specifically made for this kind of terrain, they are a hybrid between cross-country skiing skis and alpine skis. Boots are comfortable leather. We always use climbing skins on the bottom of skis to assist ascending with pulkas. These skins can be worn during the whole ski expedition.
